RESEARCH PROFILE

Numerical simulation of a resistor network that describes the electric break down in a Mott insulator.Each pixel is a resistor cell. Color intensity represents local electric field. A constant V(t) is applied between electrodes. Cells undergo an insulator to metal transition, till a filament suddenly forms. The presence of the filament provokes a spike in current that can be exploited to implement a Leaky-Integrate-and-Fire artificial neuron.
